A man who raped his 13-year-old daughter, this week, stunned his trial court when he said he was teaching her to be an adult.
The Mahlanzi village father, who cannot be named to protect the victim’s identity, was caught by his son committing the heinous act.Gokwe-Kwekwe regional magistrate, Amos Mbobo, convicted and sentenced him to 20 years in prison.

He will however, spend an effective 18 years behind bars after two years were conditionally suspended.
Magistrate Mbobo said cases of rape of children by parents and guardians were on the increase and called for stiffer penalties. Prosecutors told the court that on July 12 this year, the girl was preparing to go to school when his father raped her.
“The victim was preparing to go to school when her father approached and instructed her to lie on her stomach before he forcibly undressed her and raped her once,” prosecutors said.
The minor’s brother found their father raping her and informed their mother who in turn made a police report leading to the arrest of the accused. - Online Sources
