Barely a day after the spokesperson of the Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) was arrested, the secretary-general Victor Matemadanda has been nabbed by police.
The crackdown is part of a witch-hunt for authors of last week’s no holds barred statement calling for the step down of President Robert Mugabe - among other demands.
During Happier Days: Victor Matemadanda |
Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), revealed that Matemadanda was allegedly picked up by five police officers from his Gokwe home - and taken to Harare’s Law and Order section.
Charges of subverting a constitutionally-elected government and insulting the president are likely to arise gait the two.
The latest offensive comes after Mugabe’s criticism against authors of the alleged offensive communiqué - and the state has launched investigations.
The once strong veteran organisations has been perforated with divisions, most of them with a Zanu PF succession bearing - and a conference is set to converge soon to elect new leadership. - tinzwei.com/Online Sources
