Harare – Visiting Barcelona greats – Patrick Kluivert, Edgar Davids and Rayco Garcia have shown an interest in propping Zimbabwe’s soccer image by hosting a soccer match featuring the Spanish club legends against a local squad.
The proposal was tabled during a meeting with Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa – meaning that Harare could be flooded by celebrities such as: Ronaldinho, Rivaldo and Mandieta.David’s said the Barca legends harbour hopes of providing assistance in developing the game in Zimbabwe.
VP Mnangagwa was excited by the prospect of the country hosting a team of Barcelona legends expressing confidence a visit by the legends team would attract huge interest among local fans.

The Barcelona trio then gave special gifts of replica jerseys for VP Mnangagwa to hand over to President Robert Mugabe and the First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe.
Sports Minister, Makhosini Hlongwane and Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Dr Walter Mzembi also received replicas from the visiting contingent.
The trio later visited the national Heroes Acre in Harare before the national holiday to commemorate the gallant fighters. – Online Sources
