Steve Komphela: Chiefs Must be Consistent to win Trophies

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has warned his side against complacency after their 3-0 victory over Amazulu in the Telkom Knockout Round of 16.

Chiefs ousted Usuthu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening with goals from George Maluleka, Hendrick Ekstein and Siphiwe Tshabalala.

The win followed on from a credible draw against Orlando Pirates and a midweek victory over Mamelodi Sundowns, which has seen morale improve at Naturena.

However, Komphela is wary that in order to secure silverware this season, Amakhosi need to be consistently better than their rivals.
Coach Calls for Consistency to Win Trophies

"You know beyond declarations and pronouncements is about expectation. You can say whatever you want to say but if the expectations are there we all know it," he told SuperSport after the game.

"You can't be oblivious that you got to win things here. The funny part at Chiefs is you can win 29 matches but if someone has won 30 it goes for nothing.

"The matches we win are processes and goals towards reaching the ultimate objective. I hope this is their time because they're doing well. There's enough energy and unbelievable hunger."

Chiefs will next face Chippa United in the next round of the cup competition at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium. - News 24
